Our Charity
We are St Andrew's a charitable provider of specialist mental health services across the UK. We are a mental health charity and our purpose is hope. We believe everyone living with complex mental health needs should be heard, valued, and have hope for the future. Our mission is to help people with complex mental health needs transform their lives.
We are looking to a future with less stigma, more community support, more research and education, and we aim to be at the forefront of inspiring real change. We want to ensure we can all live in a society where everyone with complex mental health needs is heard, valued and has hope for their future.
Come and join us and support us to help people transform their lives.
The role
We are looking to appoint a Non-Executive Director and Trustee with strong business and commercial experience within the Healthcare sector who can add real value to our Charity, as well as being able to actively contribute as a member of our Unitary Board. We are seeking to recruit new expertise to our Board of Directors. You will be joining the Board at a pivotal point in the Charity’s 188-year history.
You will be required to attend six Board Meetings, four additional Board sessions to address Strategic and other key issues and various Charity and social events. You will also be expected to gain a more detailed insight into the Charity by visiting wards and spending time with our patients.
As a member of our Board of Directors, you will be required to sense check, advise and challenge, applying your expertise within healthcare, governance and quality improvement. You will challenge and support to ensure patients and carers are at the centre of all our activities and ensure a ‘quality’ lens is applied to all decisions.
As an ambassador of the Charity, you will also use your connections and contacts to support the Charity externally, which may involve political, health related or commercial support.
About you
You will have a strong background as an Executive or Non-Executive Director in a large or medium organisation within the Healthcare sector. Experience as a NED in a Not-for-Profit organisation will be helpful, but not essential. The ability to operate in an advisory capacity will be important, as will the ability to give the Charity the necessary and appropriate time commitment to make a difference.
With a keen interest in mental health, you will play a key role in supporting the work we do to transform lives of our patients. What will set you apart is your readiness to challenge the status quo and drive the Charity forward with new ideas and ways of working.
You will also be a role model for the St Andrew’s CARE values and the pillars of our Leadership Commitment.

Then we’d love you to apply here.
